Services

What we build

Houses, commercial space and the work that changes what is already standing.

  1. 01

    Custom homes

New houses built to your drawings on your lot, from foundation to final inspection.

  2. 02

    Commercial construction

Ground-up commercial buildings and tenant improvements for offices, retail and light industrial space.

  3. 03

    Renovations & remodels

Kitchens, bathrooms and whole-house remodels, including the structural, electrical and plumbing work behind the finishes.

  4. 04

    Project management

One person owns the schedule, the subcontractors, the inspections and the budget, and reports to you on all four.

  5. 05

    Sustainable building

Energy-efficient envelopes, all-electric systems and solar-ready roofs, specified at the drawing stage rather than added later.

  6. 06

    Additions & ADUs

Room additions and accessory dwelling units, permitted and built to tie into the existing house.

How we work

Four steps, and someone accountable for each

Hands drafting on a drawing with a scale ruler and a roll of plans
  1. 1

    Site visit

We walk the site with you, see what is there and hear what you want built. You find out early whether the project is practical and what it will involve.

  2. 2

    Drawings & fixed scope

We work from your architect’s drawings, or help you get them, and write down exactly what is in scope. Decisions get made on paper, where changing them is cheap.

  3. 3

    Pricing

An itemized estimate based on the site and the drawings, so you can see what each part of the work costs and what is not included.

  4. 4

Build, with one point of contact

One project lead runs the job, checks each phase before the next one starts, and is the person you call. The people who priced the work stay answerable for it.

Questions

Before you call

How do I start?

Call (209) 597-4383 or send the form below. We arrange a site visit, look at what is there and what you want, and tell you what happens next.

What do you build?

Custom homes, commercial construction, renovations & remodels, sustainable building and additions & adus. We also manage projects from drawings to final inspection.

Are you licensed?

Calyx Builder holds California contractor license #1122449, Class B — General Building Contractor, issued by the Contractors State License Board. You can check its status yourself on the CSLB website.

Check the license on cslb.ca.gov
How is pricing done?

We price after we have seen the site and the drawings — a number before that is a guess. The estimate is itemized, so you can see what each part of the work costs and what is not included.

What happens if I change something mid-project?

Every change is written up as a change order with its cost and its effect on the schedule, and you sign it before the work changes. Nothing is added to the bill that you have not agreed to in writing.

Where do you work?

We are based in Livermore and work across the Bay Area. If your project is outside that, ask — it depends on the size of the job.
